Why Breathwork Can Change Your Life - Process Your Emotions And Stop Getting Triggered
Breath is a life sustaining force. A force we can harness to help us process the depth and richness of emotions, so we can enjoy the fullness of life with all that is.
Life can be VERY FULL as we have all seen and felt in the past two years. When we don’t have the right tools to effectively process the life experience we are having, then our life experience can feel overwhelming, stressful, just too much! That’s why breathwork has been such a life changing practice for so many people around the world, and why I love teaching it!
One of the main lessons I’ve learned is that the way we breathe is a direct reflection of how we live our lives. The more fully we breathe, the more we’re able to be present for the richness of our life experiences because breath is the force that moves emotional energy, it is the force that helps us process emotions into our system.
Have you noticed we hold our breath when something feels like “too much”? Like when you take out the smelly trash on a hot summer day, too much unpleasantness... When you step into that unexpected surprise party, too much excitement... It’s natural, and is also the way we suppress and repress emotions we don’t want to deal with in more challenging situations in our lives.
Suppressed and repressed emotions clog our system in the same way fallen winter debris affects the flow of a river, and a clogged energetic system means we don’t have the same ability to function in our lives to access the richness of experience that’s available for us.
So watch today’s video to learn more about how breath works energetically to help you integrate emotions, heal past trauma and transform the way you feel in your daily life.
“It’s so frightening to be stuck in that well of emotion (grief, anger, heartbreak) without the confidence or experience to allow that emotion to release fully… breath will get you to the other side. Every single time”
- Dana Shamas
Now, it’s your turn to try it out:
Begin noticing your breath throughout your day.
In what situations are you holding your breath? Is there a pattern you recognize? Invite easeful deeper breaths into those moments and notice if it's helpful for you.
