Sumer Solstice Ritual - Creating a Conscious Rest Nest
Can you believe it is almost Summer Solstice?

I love this time of year, high energy, lots of light, and a beautiful time to tune in and reflect. How are those new year’s intentions going? How are you feeling?
Because it is a high energy time of year, it is potent for activating quick changes in your life. When my father was teaching me how to drive, he emphasized making a turn with your foot on the gas. If you are breaking or not accelerating when you go into a turn, you have less control. You have more control over your vehicle when you make a turn with power or your foot on the gas. Yes, I come from a family of very aggressive drivers :)
This is appropriate imagery for what happens during the summer solstice - making a turn in your life at this time is like turning with your foot on the gas. You have energy and light behind you.
To make the right next step, I encourage you to take the time to rest, rest and listen to what your heart is saying. For this Summer Solstice, I am going to suggest making a relaxation nest or rest nest in your home or work space to encourage and cultivate a practice of conscious rest during this summer of intensity.
If you are in go go go mode, you really have a much more limited ability to fully receive. And during a time of high energy, you need all of you open to receive in all that goodness and light energy! So create a regular practice of conscious rest and receiving. A rest nest is intended to be encouraging, inviting, and supportive in helping you slow down, relax, and receive your own inner guidance.
Summer Solstice Ritual - Create a Relaxation Nest
1. Journal or brainstorm what you need in a relaxation nest. Some questions to consider:
What helps you relax?
What level of light allows you to relax? Candlelight or total darkness or someplace in between? Would you prefer an eye pillow?
What soundscape induces you to relax? Silence, crystal bowls, sounds of nature, or something else?
What fabrics, pillows, blankest allow you to surrender fully?
Do you want a weighted blanket? Crystals? Artwork near you?
2. Pick a spot in your home for your relaxation nest.
There should be ample room for you to relax
Should be visible as a regular reminder but doesn’t obstruct daily movements
3. Gather and assemble your supplies
4. Put some music on and enjoy building your rest nest
When you’re finished take a picture and send it my way! I want to see what inspires and encourages you to relax
5. Pick a conscious rest practice to start with and practice daily start with 5min and work up to 20 min or more.
Some ideas - yoga nidra, meditation, breath practice, deep listening practice, self-hypnosis
You are welcome to try a few different ones till you land on what works for you. Remember it is a practice, it is not about getting right it is about the practice!!!
